Australian Federal Gov BoM Bureau of Meteorology wrong calls and walk-backs late 2022-2023

Fact 1 - Following the heat and dry of 2019 Australia has enjoyed the Great Albo Cool & Wet Period(GACWP)
which may not have ended. Readers should have no trouble recalling headlines re flooding and ample rainfall.

Fact 2 - Through the 9 long years of the Fed LNP Gov the BoM never thought to set up special www Heatwave pages and was not noted that I recall for making repeated embarrassing wrong calls for example re El Nino and Brutal Summer.
Yet the LNP years saw many higher temperature anomalies in the BoM rolls royce ACORN temperature data than in the GACWP years.
So I can only assume that somehow the existence of their LNP political masters induced that more sensible restrained behaviour in BoM publicity.
Fact 3 - During October 2022 the BoM initiated an attempted "rebranding"  to stop Media & public referring to it as BoM or "The BoM"

Fact 4 - In late 2022 and I can only assume under some stress to assist the new GreenLabor Albo Govt to "positively spotlight global-warming-climate change".
The BoM started web pages on the subject of "Heat Waves".  In our State capitals the 2022-2023 summer was not noted for heatwaves and there were NONE. In a rational society with media dealing impartially with facts - the BoM late 2022 www "Heat Wave" pages would be abandoned before they were ridiculed as a silly failure.
Fact 5 - July 2023 was anomalously warm and this might have given BoM hope that the horrid GACWP was over.
BoM should note that the NASA satellite temperature anomalies for Australia have cooled in each month since July 2023.
Fact 6 - On 19th Sept 2023 Sept BoM  fed widespread media articles predicting a "Brutal Summer" heatwise for examples see tweet below.

Fact 7 - Also on 19th Sep 2023 BoM called a new El Nino which if true could presage dryer-warmer conditions in eastern Australia where most of the Australian population live. 
Fact 8 - Since 19th Sep 2023 the SOI has moved AWAY FROM EL NINO conditions towards the neutral zone.

Fact 9 - On 18 Nov 2023 BoM was quoted by ABC media saying "Major storm event on the horizon across Australia as El Niño takes a raincheck".

We know from BoM rainfall maps that November 2023 turned out wet over the majority of Australia.
Fact 10 - As December started BoM made a further series of "Heatwave" forecasts.
I think it would be fair to say that Australians would expect heatwaves to be multi-day events.
Looking at Australian State Capitals only Sydney had a plus 40 degree day on Saturday 9Dec23.  One day does not constitute a "Heatwave".
On that basis the BoM's predicted Heatwaves media blitz turned out to be another monster fail and a "nothing-burger".
NOBODY knows how this summer will compare to other summers, just as nobody knows where the SOI will meander in the future.
Fact 11 - From Saturday 9Dec23 rain had developed over the South Australian gulfs region affecting Adelaide and areas NW to Tarcoola.
And tropical Cyclone Jasper was approaching the north Qld coast from just SE of Willis Island.
Fact 12 - The SA rain is associated with a low pressure system so we have twin low pressure systems affecting eastern Australia for a few days towards mid December.
Fact 13 - There was widespread crit of BoM rain forecasting around Cairns during the impact of Cyclone Jasper 14th to 18th December 2023 (Incl)

Fact 14 - Amazingly the ABC reported that poor BoM modelling of the track of Cyclone Jasper was the reason for the rain forecasting being so unreliable.

Fact 15 - As 2023 ended the chart of Monthly SOI showed that from October the SOI has moved nearer the neutral zone.
