With its new Labor Prime Minister Julia Gillard – Australia is due for an election soon and the pro-labor media is cranking up the effort.
A few recent articles on climate to set the tone.
“Study shows outback soaking up CO2”
Quoting the unbiased Pew Environment group – the article is a mish-mash of misleading statistics and pro IPCC views. I tried to get a comment in with a link to the CSIRO paper that showed our landmass absorbs all our emissions but that was censored out. Not fit to be seen. Read some comments and soak up the ignorance. Whats happening to our education system. I had a post on this subject in 2009.
“Carbon courage: there’s no need for a consensus”
Ben Eltham is a true believer as are most of the commenters.
Last Monday my local paper the Canberra Times published this breathless gush – “Climate change last hurdle before setting election date”. It reads as though Saint Julia just has to dot the “I’s” and cross the “T’s” on her latest iteration climate masterwork and presumably – problem solved. Facts are that GreenLabor could smash our economy back to the Stone Age – and there would not be an iota of detectable effect on climate – except – urban heat islands would decrease in magnitude.
There are a few cases – will add more as I note them.
There is nothing unbiased about any part of the PEW organization. It is an extreme left-wing organization. Stop propagating the lie that they are unbiased.
Agree – I should keep my sarcasm under control
On carbon ‘pollution’,

I really have a problem with the garbage comments referring to carbon as pollution. If it really was, why would we want it ‘soaked up in the outback’. Carbon is an essential ingredient in outback ecology, just ask the termites! I often bring up similar points on the WA Conservation Council’s Facebook page (Neville Numbat)when they cover this topic…they don’t like it a bit. The Pew group sounds like their clone.
Heard Gillard talk today in her climate policy release about all the droughts recently and what is to come. Given that there has been some severe droughts this decade, it hasn’t translated in less rainfall Australia-wide. If one looks at the graph for decadal averages in the BOM summaries, you will find that this decade is the second wettest since 1900. In fact there has been more rainfall post-1950 than pre-1950.

So are we getter wetter as we supposedly become warmer?
My home town is doing its bit for AGW. According to the newly released data on the BOM site (30 year statistics), our town’s long-term average max temp has dropped from 26.8 to 26.7. Min av remains constant on 13.2. Any other towns/cities have this happen?
