With some holiday reading time coming up I dug out my copy of “Rush to Judgment” the 1966 book by Lawyer Mark Lane (RIP) recording his patient re-examination of JFK assassination witnesses encouraging them to truthfully tell what they witnessed and to pass on their experiences of the Warren process and being questioned by Govt agents. Lane took the view that Oswald deserved a defence attorney and he sought to record the truth in that role. Well it is all easier now to access “Rush to Judgment” because there is a text searchable and copy n pasteable 440 page pdf of the entire 1966 book for download which is only 1.7MB – so you could read it on a mobile phone. My book is from 1992 and includes a section on the Oliver Stone Hollywood movie “JFK” in which ML nicely explains sections from “JFK” that are complete fabrications and other sections where the setting might have been altered but the dialogue and impression conveyed relates OK to what witnesses saw & said in 1963/64.
The Warren Commission guided by Govt agencies fairly quickly settled on the following basic storyline and did not vary much from that.
12.30pm 22 Nov 1963 “Lone Nut” Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK three times from the Texas School Book Depository in Dealey Plaza Dallas.
1.15pm 22 Nov 1963 “Lone Nut” Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed Officer Tippit of the Dallas PD at Oak Cliff a suburb ~6 miles miles from Dealey Plaza.
11.21am 24 Nov 1963 “Lone Nut” Lee Harvey Oswald was shot on TV News by another “Lone Nut”, Jack Ruby a local strip joint owner; as LHO was being transferred from the Dallas PD to the County Jail. Ruby was a well known police and Govt Agency informant with decades of mob background and had been known to run guns to Cuba.
Oswald was thought to be transferred around 10am but Ruby was at a Western Union office at 11.17am then walked to and down the sloping driveway to the guarded Dallas PD basement where he was quickly able to shoot the tethered Oswald who was being held for few seconds while police waited on a car to back into place.
1964 Ruby wanted the Warren Commission to take him to DC where he said he would feel safer singing but Warren left him in Dallas and he died on 3 Jan 1967 in the Dallas Jail.
More later – feel free to start discussions on your pet subjects.
Jack Ruby died of cancer, and some sources I have read over the years, claim that Ruby knew his cancer was terminal at the time he shot Oswald.
This brings up a lot off suspicions.
Was Ruby paid to shoot Oswald and would not have any repercussion re being a witness as he was going to die anyway? and therefore Oswald must have had something to tell and was killed to keep him quiet.
Cheers
Roger
For me, conspiracy flags were waving late on the day JFK was shot
Late at night on 22Nov1963 the Dallas DA Henry Wade held a crowded “press conference” to say LHO had been charged with the two murders but had not made any admissions and they were leaving him to get some sleep.
A media guy calls out at one point asking what organizations Oswald was connected to or belonged to I think he had to repeat the question. Wade answered “Free Cuba” and quick as a flash Jack Ruby butted in from the back row to correct Wade saying “Fair Play for Cuba” and Wade looked at Ruby while accepting the correction. Around 1 minute in to this video. I have seen other video showing Ruby as he butted in.

Here is a still photo of Ruby at the above press conference

From Warren Commission saying Ruby was one of people to speak up to correct Wade saying “Fair Play for Cuba”. Also Ruby is organizing interviews for Henry Wade the DA!! Shows how familiar he was around Dallas PD.

I have no doubt that JFK was not by someone other than Oswald, the question is, who?
Very few players could keep this secret forever. The Mob could, but what would be their incentive?
Maybe the Kremlin paid the Mob?
One way or another, there is no way it was Oswald.
An example of “evidence/witness tampering” is given in Chapter 3 • ‘The Gauze Curtain’ at page 46 of “Rush to Judgment” or pdf page 39. Here Mark Lane sets out how several doctors at Parkland Hospital stated at various times that JFK had a small neat ~5mm entrance wound in his throat around the tie knot. These doctors were no strangers to gunshot wounds and normal people might think their view would be hard to overturn.
Reading up to top of page 53 shows that employing various ingenious gambits – starting the shooting on Houston – JFK spinning around in his seat to face the rear – Agencies tried in vain to prove the unprovable. But Warren still concluded [: Immediately after the assassination, many people reached erroneous conclusions about the source of the shots because of Dr Perry’s observations to the press . .. Dr Perry stated merely that it was ‘possible’ that the neck wound was a wound of entrance.] And then tapes of what the doctors had said were locked away until 2039. Warren on a path to mould evidence to their pre-conceived conclusions was an unstoppable force.

Presumably it’s all in the book, but the videoed interviews with witnesses are worth watching.
Anto:
One claim has always stuck with me; namely that there were 3 shots in 7 seconds which “proved” that there was more than one shooter.
Oswald was a trained sniper using his personal choice of (bolt action) rifle. During the retreat to Mons the British Army was firing (bolt action) Lee Enfields at 15 shots per minute, as they were trained to do. (The Germans thought they were under fire from machine guns.) 15 shots in 60 seconds is one every 4 seconds without counting the reloading time after 10, so 2 shots in 7 seconds (after the initial one) was quite possible for a trained shooter.
