ABC reports Antarctic base station experiences warmest August on record – when you read on the warmth was due to warm gales. The annual max and min to 2017 show no joy for the IPCC.

The article introduces an odd concept:
“Temperatures were still sub-zero all month, and the highest mean daily maximum temperature was -10.2C….
“Scott Carpentier, the manager of Antarctic meteorology with the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), said it was also an “exceptionally warm” August at Davis Station, where the highest mean daily maximum temperature hit -9.6C.”
I can see what a highest daily maximum is, or a highest mean daily temperature but what on earth is a highest mean daily maximum?
Also interesting to see the whole temperature record for Mawson, which being so remote and tiny may provide a relatively uncontaminated record. Guess what – no trend at all…
