A friend who used to work there, left-wing to the core himself, still admitted the ABC was riddled with left-wing bias. And that was 20 years ago; it is worse now. Not a single presenter of a main show who is not Labor or Green, and some of them openly “activists”. Shows like Media Watch or their “comedy” programmes that openly mock and insult conservatives, while giving the Greens and Labor favourable treatment.
But what to do? Chris Berg and Sinclair Davidson suggest giving the ABC away either to the public or the staff. Liberal party members strongly support that but the government does not have the ticker to do it.
That does not necessarily mean they don’t want to. But they know they could never get it through the Senate, so there is not much point trying. It’s another example of the fact that once the government creates something, it generates its own constituency so that it can never be abolished.
The real issue is one that will never be addressed. Public servants cannot be sacked for incompetence – this shows up all over the polity. ASIC, APRA, ABC … an endless list.
Yes, the “bosses” (boss of what, exactly) can be moved around or made redundant – but nothing else changes. The new “boss” achieves a $0.5m pa sinecure and covertly expects to achieve little else.
It’s just so self-evidently tiresome.
Example of ABC bias? or sloppyness? Around 7pm on 3rd Oct there was a dust storm at Broken Hill which they devoted much space to.
Broken Hill dust storm paints the sky red

also around the same 7pm event the region saw ~30mm rain which ABC have not reported yet. Although rain was mentioned in the article. So during a much reported drought our $Billion ABC can not report 30mm rain. Maybe today they might update the article.
I am not sure much worthwhile is gained by media yakking on about suicide. This from ABC News front page today seems excessive.
