An uncommon juxtaposition – Indigenous people victims of ‘green’ fight against Adani mine, says Marcia Langton – Speaking at the Australian Mining Industry Annual Lecture.

Amazing article, especially for the Guardian. It shows how green groups are exploiting the native title legislation to make it do the opposite of what was intended, so that it harms Aboriginal interests instead of promoting them.
Credit for once to the coal industry for finally having the balls to give someone the platform to speak out, to Ms Langton for doing this, no doubt at some risk, and to the Guardian for running the story without drowning it in an avalanche of snide remarks.
The EIS for this project was released to the public for comment several years ago. It details aspects relating to environment, land rights, personnel (construction and permanent), etc.
It is obvious that the media and the various protest groups have not read the document and choose to ignore its existence.
The document and the detail required is a State Government requirement to give everyone a chance to have their say and express their concerns.
This happened some time ago.
So – why do the Qld Government and the courts allow the green radical idiots to throw new hand grenades when the horse has bolted (nothing like a few mixed metaphors)?
Surprising to see any Guardian article about the Carmichael Mine that injects a bit of common sense into the argument. However, in true Leftist media style just like their fellow travelers at ABC, while they may rarely allow the odd rational piece through the gate, peg on nose, they nonetheless can’t resist including the obligatory disclaimer, in this case a three minute anti-coal propaganda video “Fact v fiction: Adani’s Carmichael coal mine – video explainer” square in the middle of the article.
As if there wasn’t enough Green /Left anti-coal propaganda throughout the Guardian site promoting their preferred anti-coal ideology.
Thanks Bob for pointing out that video, which I had not played when I read the article.
It is of course the usual garbled warbling about global warming. Every argument in it is wrong, contestable, or irrelevant – the warming effects, the economic and employment impacts, the nonsense about the Barrier Reef etc. The tripe about there being no market for the coal is especially stupid. You would think the people putting up billions of their own money might know a bit about that, and if they are wrong, there is no reason to campaign against the mining anyway, because it won’t happen.
