Just looking at Mundaring – there are two stations –
Mundaring Weir 9031 a shambles of missing months since 2002 – and
Mundaring 9030 lacking a huge slab of data from Oct 2012 to Jul 2014
What on earth is going on between the BoM and WA Govt Water whatever they call it?
Some extras from my post in 2008 – Deterioration in BoM rainfall data quality this decade. Then I had a quick look at stations relevant to catchments east of Melbourne incl the Thomson, very poor data there.
CHURCHMAN BROOK Site number: 9010 Commenced: 1910 Full data to 1971, then various missing years and months until 1986 when data improves until deterioration post 2001 as national “water crisis” hits see image.
WUNGONG DAM Site number: 9044 Commenced: 1911 Full data from 1913 to 1998, then a marked deterioration worsening in recent years as national “water crisis” hits.
SOUTH DANDALUP DAM Site number: 9873 Commenced: 1971 Full data to 2003 then 3 years with missing data, ironic bearing in mind constant WA Govt propaganda about “our drying climate”.
Wellington Dam now closed from 1995 –
East of Melbourne now.
WOODS POINT Site number: 83033 Commenced: 1884 recent shambles, several missing years. Can there be any importance placed on these data in the BoM ?
MOUNT BAW BAW Site number: 85291 Commenced: 1991 recent shambles.
MURDERERS HILL Site number: 85289 Commenced: 1989 missing 2001 plus
MOUNT USEFUL Site number: 85021 Commenced: 2002 much missing.
If there is heavy rain coming to Mundaring, they cap the rain gauge and go on holiday. This way the data is corrected for bias and the anticipated outcome is achieved. They are saving up for another de-salination plant.
