In my experience at this blog most of the thousands of spam comments every day quote a GoogleMail address.
I would have thought that with Google’s power they could have shut down or wiped out or minimised these pests in some way. A miniscule sample. Most were posted under gibberish names.

Just like all of the zombie Facebook accounts, they allow it because for each one, Google can add it to the total userbase for gmail, which they then trumpet to shareholders.
Good point Anto – I have noticed this for years now – most spam comments quote a GMail address.
