The effects of UHI and ‘adjustments’ to the temperature record by meteorological offices make up the totality of so-called ‘Global Warming’ and ‘CAGW’ in the past. These causes now mask the present decline of temperatures world-wide.
The look of the new Blog Site is an excellent improvement.
This image I found a while back on WA Climate (www.waclimate.net/#) shows the infra-red effect of UHI on a Perth suburb: pindanpost.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/home-019.jpg
Like the new look Warwick, great stuff.
You can treat this study with a large grain of salt.
They talk about trees and their effect on “human thermal comfort” .
Trees (unless you are directly under the shade of one) reduce temperatures by transpiration that increases humidity and hence reduces the temperature, due the greater thermal capacity of humid air.
.
Which has no effect on “human thermal comfort” because our capacity to lose heat is a function of humidity
I posted this in May 2012 –
Aerial thermal scans over Perth – 16 years after this technology was used in the USA to measure urban heat island (UHI) effects
