I noticed the BoM minimum temperature Outlook map for November was a blaze of red predicting that huge areas of the wide brown land had an 80% chance of having way-way-hot nights. And not 1 square centimetre of Oz was predicted to enjoy cooler than average nights. Larger map.
If you go to the current month Min anomaly map and choose weekly – you can tick back to earlier weeks and it is obvious the BoM min t Outlook map for Nov is a monster fail.

Australian topical song 2020
I respect the official Australian National Anthem –
the following words came to me this morning as topical comments on our situation in 2020.
Australians ruled by idiots,
Our votes we give for free,
National cabinet rules the roost,
With debts piled high for thee,
Our land abounds in sacred sites,
No more dams for we,
drought fire flood and fruit unpicked,
with quislings everywhere,
Free from Robodebts at last,
Long-live Jobkeeper fair.

Imagine losing ~2,300 Aussie lives today in an hour or so on an equivalent population basis. HMAS Sydney was lost 19Nov1941 due to not heeding centuries of hard won Royal Navy experience in dealing with suspicious and unidentified shipping.

I would say that for 17 months previously to the sinking of HMAS Sydney various disguised and armed German commerce raiders had been sinking whatever shipping they could intercept around New Zealand and Australia. One of these raiders – the Komet – found its way to our region after crossing the icy seas north of the USSR – with help from Soviet icebreakers. I have a blog on the Komet and a timeline of 1940 German raider sinkings around our region – so far totals 12 ships – still to assemble infor re 1941.
